Search against Pirate Bay end- user

2012-02-24

On the same day as the Swepiracy bust, the police in the Gothenburg region made a search against a person suspect of extensive illegal file sharing on Pirate Bay and Shareitall. Rights Alliance filed the police complaint. Rights Alliance have collected evidence against the suspect on several separate occasions. The suspect was very active and responsible for a number of Swedish and foreign movies being made available through the Pirate Bay.

The technic used, bittorent, have until recently been looked upon as safe by illegal file sharers. But Rights Alliance has developed methods to secure evidence against those committing infringements by using the technic.

The suspect was released after police hearings and has admitted to the actions but denying committing any offences. If he will be found guilty the rights holders will claim extensive damages.
